 President & Co-Founder

Joseph is the owner of Northeast Mountain Guiding and a government contractor with the DOD, DOJ & DHS. He has been a full-time mountain guide and mountain rescue instructor for over 15 years and heavily involved in both industries for over 20 years. He is the founder of the 'Outdoor Adventure & Education' industry with the US Department of Labor. He is also the founder of several search & rescue teams throughout the United States. He is the author of the Mountain Leader Handbook, Garden State Climbing and several other books. 

Secretary of the Board

 Rebekah has a Master's in Psychology, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Specialist.

She has approximately 20 years working with children, but currently works primarily with children on the Autism spectrum. Some of her favorite hiking companions are her husband, son and two dogs. She's been leading hikes with Hikerbabes for approximately 4 years.

-When she's not hiking, she also enjoys reading or you can find her outdoors trout fishing or crabbing with her dad, kayaking, camping and traveling to new places. She's lived in southeast PA her whole life. Her favorite hike that she's done is Angel's Landing in Zion National Park. She loves challenging hikes, especially those with heights, chains or iron rungs. 

  Christy earned her bachelor’s in Environmental Science with a concentration in fish and wildlife management and currently works with her County Government as an Environmental Specialist, CCMP (Cooperative Coastal Monitoring Program) Monitor & Sampler, and HazMat Emergency Responder. Prior to that, she worked in Wildlife Rehabilitation for over 10 years. Additionally, she has worked as a Mountain Guide for about 7 years; particularly focused on rock climbing & canyon courses, as well as instruction in the technical & safety aspects of outdoor activities. When not working in nature, she enjoys her personal time in nature. Rock climbing, canyoning, hiking, wildlife watching, and overall exploring, are among what she loves most outdoors. Her time is also shared with her beloved children, fiancé, fur babies, and houseplants.  

 Deborah is a licensed social worker, clinician, author, and avid hiker. She has extensive

experience working with individuals in settings that provide trauma-informed care services. Deborah enjoys getting involved in projects that support her passions. She also volunteers as the Trail Supervisor for the Southwest section of Harriman State Park in New York and recently

passed her NYS Hiking Guiding license exam. Deborah is also the founding member of PATHS

WITH HEALING, Inc. and is currently in a Ph.D. program for Social Work.

   Brian is the owner and lead guide of Upstate Hiking Adventure Experiences, a guiding company based in the Catskills of New York. After leaving the corporate world in 2016, Brian has guided thousand of hikers through various trails of New York State. As an avid photographer, both in trade and by hobby, Brian incorporates photography into his guided trips, helping guests both capture the memories and disconnect from their cell phones.  Brian is based in the Catskills but travels often in his down time, spending several months a year out west in Utah, Arizona, and Colorado.

Lee is a rered United States Army Parachute Rigger. He has coached, trained, and mentored hundreds of Soldiers and Service members throughout his career. He has experience in Mountain Rescue operations, open water recovery operations, and he is a certified Rescue Diver. His love of the outdoors and hiking and camping has been passed to his children who also enjoy camping and outreach projects 

for the environment such as planning Long Leaf Pine trees with the local National Forest Service. Lee is a 

Certified Beekeeper and currently works as an Apprentice at a honey farm in North Carolina. 

   Dan is the owner of Hiking the Ozarks and Satori Adventures & Expeditions. Dan has been an International Mountain Guide for almost 10 years and has guided people to some of the most remote places on earth. Dan frequently guides in Nepal, Peru and other areas. Dan also worked as a homicide detective for the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Dan currently works running the Human Trafficking Training Academy  

 Owner and operator of the American Climbing Institute. Alan has been guiding for more than 30 years and was instrumental in creating and implementing the national guide training program currently in use by the American Mountain Guides Association. In 1990 he was field examined and certified as a Level II Rock Guide, the highest rock guide certification in the US. He founded the United States Mountain Guides Association (USMGA) in 2001 and served as it’s Vice-President for two years. In 2005 he co-founded the Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA). He was a member of the Technical Committee for the Professional Climbing Guides Institute (PCGI) in 2011.He has trained and certified hundreds of aspiring rock guides and continues to introduce climbers and guides of all experience levels to the tricks of the trade. Many of the techniques popularized in current books and magazines, as well as technical systems taught by guides in the US, were devised by Alan.  

 Jenn has hiked and backpacked throughout North America, mainly in the Southeastern United States, and in Australia, New Zealand, and several European countries. She has completed over 80% of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park "900" trail miles and has section hiked over 400 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Jenn holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and in Astronomy and Astrophysics from The Pennsylvania State University. She also has an MBA with emphasis in Technology Management from The University of Phoenix. Jenn is a PHGA certified Level II Backpacking Guide and is a Lead Backpacking Guide for Northeast Mountain Guiding. She currently resides near Knoxville, Tennessee.
